Recently, I won 1ST PLACE at the Red & Green Chili Cook Off!! This recipe has been in our family for years! It has always been a crowd favorite and I always fall back on it on a cold winter day when I want to warm the hearts and bellies of my loved ones.
I made a post on Instagram sharing that the recipe won first place and I got an overwhelming amount of messages to share the recipe! I am always happy to share the love through food, so I’m so happy I have a space like this blog to do that. I absolutely love when you guys request recipes and anything else you want to know, so keep the request coming!
Ingredients:
- 1 can of tomato paste
- 1 can of total roasted tomatoes
- 1 can of pumpkin
- 3 cups of chicken broth
- 3 tables of garlic
- 1 red bell pepper diced
- 1 onion diced
- 1 pound of ground meat
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbls chili powder
- 1tsp salt
- 2 table oregano
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tbls Tony Chachere’s Creole
- 2 tbls of your choice of spicy seasonings
Recipe:
Turn crockpot to low and add:
- 1 can of tomato paste
- 1 can of Rotel roasted tomatos
- 1 can of pumpkin
- 3 cups of chicken broth
In a skillet, saute:
- 3 tables of garlic
- 1 red bell pepper diced
- 1 onion diced
- 1 pound of ground meat
Add skillet ingredients to crockpot,
Add all seasonings to crockpot,
Mix well and cook on low for 6 hours!
Can be served any way you would like! Add cheese, sour cream, even avocado on top! I love making a Frito pie with mine! Yum!
